“A vacation is what you take when you can no longer take what you’ve been taking.”
I’m away in Saratoga Springs, NY this week. I hope you’ll enjoy a few pics of this beautiful town from my last visit there 4 years ago in 2011 (I simply canNOT believe it’s been so long!).
This happens to be at the race course, which is what they’re mainly known for in Saratoga, but they are pretty serious about their gardens throughout town.
Of course the races are a “must-see” but it’s only one of the many wonderful aspects to this gorgeous town in upstate New York. But do go… even if just for the hats!
Yup, even I don a hat for such an occasion!
It’s not all about hats and horses either… the springs themselves are pretty cool too. But be forewarned, this one in Congress Park in the centre of town is rather odiferous to say the least.
Congress park is simply beautiful. It has many ponds loaded with Koi enclosed by fabulous architecture. Springs and fonts and a very moving war memorial. Unfortunately my only pics of the spectacular antique Merry-Go-Round from many years ago are blurry (‘cuz that what happens when you’re focussing on your kids face through the lens!) but trust me, it is worth the visit alone.
Let’s not forget the rather tame and friendly “wild” life!
The “cottages” are a sight well worth the very brief drive to the outskirts of town. I think we may have a different idea of the word cottage way up here in the wilds of Toronto. 😉
Those cottage dwellers are just like us! They love their pets too!
… and their gardens! I can’t believe I didn’t even mention the restaurants (which are plentiful and AH-MAZ-ING)… ah well, I’ll save some of that for another time! Stay tuned.
The views heading out of town aren’t too shabby either.
Enjoy & Namaste!
